Saw that earlier this evening. Makes you wonder what else has been hacked into for future mayhem.

Remember when Clancy first wrote his Net Force series? Most people couldn't even understand the concept of the books - they thought it was about kids' computer games and not reality.

That's a good article. I have a nephew that has worked across the country on the grid moving power from one company to another. He's in the Midwest currently. He's told some scary stories about how vulnerable the system is without outside help.

Reminds me of a cartoon I once saw - two Pigmys wearing nothing but loin cloths and armed with bows and arrows holding up two guys in a truck that carried a nuclear missile.

The western powers have become so reliant upon high tech - and the electric grid that enables it - that should it go down we could be exceedingly vulnerable.

If that happens I'll just stand in front of those commies and yell.....

Just goes to show ya...Free Traxistan has always recognized the military advantages of a pygmy based infantry....

Someone referencing this news article gave me the link to this book,
"Lights out".

I haven't read it, but he highly recommended it. He may have been biased as it was set near this area in a fictional community. I intent to check it out later today, but I figured I'd pass it along to you as well.

Book can be found here.

The Chinese Embassy said China "opposes and forbids all forms of cyber crimes."

Well isn't that special. Someone should tell the Chinese Embassy about GhostNet.

How can you be a military sub-contractor and NOT know foreign governments are going to do anything in their power to access your information? How can you be a foreign power and NOT know we will try the very same thing?

Lemme know what you think of it if you read it.

I have read it......and would rate it only fair. To much religious message, not enough real world human behavior. It does bring up ramifications I had not thought of, but the human interaction was just too nice.
