Hi y'all! I'm not quite sure where to start, but I stumbled across this forum while looking for a good knife. I was especially impressed by mitch.chesney's thread starter on the subject. (I was a bit disappointed that all the recommended blades on his short list were fixed). I am currently in the process of revising my survival kit and am finding lots of good ideas here. I am sure I will be bothering many of you with those annoying questions very shortly!

Now, a bit about me. I was born and raised in the great state of Texas. My father owned a hunting & guide service and taxidermy shop when I was younger, and my mother could skin a deer in no time flat. I enjoyed trekking in my younger years. I have since moved to Idaho and have a husband who I may lovingly refer to as a "tool" from time to time (simply because he can fix anything). I also have 3 wonderful children. My oldest is involved in martial arts, my middle child is involved in competitive rock climbing and will be going to survival camp this summer, and my youngest will begin his first year of cub scouts next year. We enjoy camping and the great outdoors.

I guess that about covers it!

Welcome home. Sounds like you guys have a huge jump on most in being prepared. I look forward to your posts. Use the search button to try and find whatever you're looking for. If you can't find anything or what you find doesn't answer your question, then ask away. If we don't know the answer I'm sure we can make something up (we really will try to steer you straight).
