Nice one, hope it was just a standard issue earth quake, and not Mt. Redoubt Total distruction......That puppy near knocked the cabin off the blocks.

Radio said it was a 4.7 and was 25 miles from Palmer. It was a good one.

Wonder if it was connected somehow to the Italian one?

Wonder if it was connected somehow to the Italian one?

A very appropriate questions. Let us look at the sequence of events.

1) Man notices an increase in seismic activity during the month of January in Italy.
2) Mount Redoubt rumbles back to life resulting in an eventual eruption
3) Massive Earthquake occurs shortly after the eruption in Italy.
4) Earth quake on the day after in Alaska, at the same time after shocks are taking place in Italy.

There are 2 pieces of the puzzle. What other corresponding seismic/volcanic activity have we missed that went unreported.

I think they are related.

I doubt anything is being unreported. The earth is always quaking, volcanos are always erupting. Business as usual.

Good resource Ken. I'll be checking that out more often.

On a similar note I have always wanted to build my own seismograph
