i was born a poor black child...sorry,i stole that from "the jerk". born in mi. moved to az when i was 6, back in '69. hated the desert, having come from the land of greener pastures, as it were. took years for me to see any beauty here. that has since changed. was a boyscout for years but never made it past 2nd class scout. just loved going camping every 3 or 4 weeks. that and weekend exploratory trips of our new home state on weekends w/ family got me used to being outdoors. i grew up in phx and was on what was the outskirts of town, (at that time). looked west out my back door and you saw 3 farm houses then mountains 13 miles away. needless to say, it allowed a lot of unsupervised exploration of the desert and farmlands around my house. i've fished since i was 3, catching my first fish, a cat, and proceeded to throw my pole in the water in great fear when the fish's great, ugly head cleared the water. started hunting when i was 14. quail, dove, turkey, javelina, deer and elk. i've been married 3 times w/ children from each. amber, 21, nicki, 12 and emma and richard, 4 yr old twins. i have tried to instill in them my love for the outdoors. my current wife and i have always traveled the state to explore new areas. funny how after living here 43 yrs, there are still places that are new to me. everytime we went somewhere, we would always say, "wonder where that road goes?" so we got a chevy 4x4 and 2 atc's and now we know where those roads go. i have been from nogales to page, north to south, and parker to springerville, east to west, all on dirt. we have notated many, many places to hunker down in if need be. i've always considered myself a loner, jeremiah johnson type of guy. in the last few years, w/ the economy tanking and all, i've put serious thought into chucking it all, hooking up the tent trailer and atcs and heading out. some of that is running from my responsibilities and some of it comes from the social and economical situation. i started collecting milsurps about 3 years ago after starting w/ bayonets. that turned into handguns from the past and so on. i had every standard rifle used by all countries involved in wars from 1880s on till 2nd ww. ceptin for those german and american ones, (they're expensive). i am an owner of a hvac company that deals mostly w/ new residential and commercial installs. hence my money woes. i've had to sell a lot of my rifles to pay mortgage payments. so i got into building kits, like pps43 and little derringer copies and such as it is much cheaper. i've been a member here since march of 2008 and check this site daily. this is my second post. well that is me in a nutshell, (though i could fill a semi trailer w/ stories). oh in case you haven't noticed..i don't mind using correct grammar, punctuation and spelling...but i hate have to use caps...lol. rick
