so it went like this
cut with a scalpel from his lower lip down to the scent gland and then cut and peeled all the way around popped the head out great, got the first front foot out, cut just above the paw with snips, second foot fell apart when i was pulling hind leg same problem, 4 th leg went well then screwed up the tail.
oh yeah i also cut the skull off, i stuck it in an empty dog food can packed full of salt, see what happens, the hide i salted the inside also and wrapped in newspaper, just before bed i will resalt and wrap in a damp cloth.
i have no idea what i am doing can you tell? lets see how this works out

They changed to a more cost effective motto.

Neither cloudy skies nor high pollen count will stay the postman from his appointed rounds. *

What did you use to skin it?

wareagle69

scalpel for most of it, cut its head of after skinning most of it with a hacksaw and used side cutters to cut bone just behind the paws

Now what are you going to do with? Here's an article that might help.

came upon this last night doing me research for the mink, just so happens i happen to have a hind leg of a deer left over from a wolf kill on my property this winter, actually its getting pretty morbid around here. i have been here only about 18 months and i have found lots of carcasses and bones, bit of a graveyard going on here

Wareagle's Road Kill Cafe, kinda has a nice ring to it. If something has tire marks just say it was grilled. You should start a franchise, I could send you possums and deer.

If you wanted to you can use the brains and tan the hide or baking soda and alum to cure it out pretty nice. Either way there is a membrane inside the pelt that has to be scraped off or it'll rot on ya.

figured i'd let it set in salt for a day or so then scrape it out

I have a shirt that has a full roadkill menu on it. got it as a gift, but it is too tasteless for my liking. I can send it to you in the mail if you are looking for recipes:tongue_smilie:
