That is a story in itself. The short version is that I am moving from Illinois to West Virginia. The short reason is I am moving to get away from concrete poisoning. There is too much concrete and quite a few people with a personality to match. I originally began my move so I could participate in the historical preservation of a small town with a rich history. My passion for history and its preservation were enough to draw me there.
I'm not entirely stuck in the past, however the skills My family have developed as re-enactors will be quite handy if our future continues on this path. "Wilderness Survival" for me has gone from being a 12 year old kid wanting to grow up to be Grizzly Adams to a 40+year old realizing the necessity for self reliance.
I have been lurking for a few months and have found many answers to my questions in this forum. It's great to have a forum like this were I can ask questions about survival subjects. Most of my friends in Chitown are not concerned about these things. Lets face it a city that big has every thing you could possibly want.
Thank you to all the posters who offer their wisdom and to those who ask the questions that I didn't think of or didn't want to ask.
