Anyone ever seen these, or used one?

All of the reviews that I have read on that particular model were not very favorable. Most were very critical of the reel.

If you go to geeks.com they have these on sale sometimes for 6.99 I think there 7.99 or 9.99 regular price.

I bought a few combos as stocking stuffers (my stocking, too) last Christmas. There are several combos available at around $17.00.

I've only played with it, but I think it'll work fine. The one I bought was pretty solid for it's size. :)
BTW: GoFastandLight.com has some other great stuff, too.

I'd just go to Wal Mart and get one of the Scooby Do kids set ups. My boy had one when he was 5 and it worked better then I thought it would.

I think I may have to try that one in Ken's second link. I currently have a 4 piece take down 11 foot ultralite rod and spinning reel in my pack. The pieces I atually put in the frame tubes of the pack, they just fit. The section with the corlk grip I velcro strapped on the outside of the frame tube. The reel is in one of the side pockets. It's a real high dollar travel rod and reel set. I've caught remarkably big fish with 4 pound test because of the rod length giving me the ability to fight them without breaking my line. A short rod would make that harder to do but it looks much easier to pack.

I have a collapsible rod, and when extended, it's shorter than my 2 piece rod. My local fishing conditions are:
- Always at least a breeze, which is usually against you.
- I fish light weight lures with worms, and a bobber.
- Use use the Zebco (100 series?) closed face reel. It's more reliable than the expensive ones.
So with those conditions I can't cast more than 40-50 feet. With the collapsible rod I can cast max 30 ft, it's just not long enough to cast that far with the light lures I use.
So I'm thinking the pen rod might work, but probably won't cast too far. And if it has a small reel, it's going to take much longer to reel in line.

For those that don't know, these Scooby Doo combo kids sets work to hold upto a small 3 foot alligator. My daughter is still amazed I realed one in one hers. No breaks or other damage, one more massive fight.
