No, it isn't the cousin of the adorable snowwoman. Abominable....whatever. It's that stuff the keeps moisture out of places it shouldn't be in.

I stopped by the local Tractor Supply and asked them if they have bags of desiccant in the shipping crates of the 4X4s and other stuff.

Yep.

Can I have it?

Yep. Call us Tuesday, that's when our shipments come in and I'll save you some.

And I bet if you check with your local motorcycle, 4X4, farm equipment, etc. shop they would you let you have theirs, too.

bake in the oven on a low temperature to remove the moisture then bag it up in panty hose (use your wife's if you don't want to mess yours up) and toss it in your ammo box and/or gun safe. Repeat as necessary. As long as you heat the stuff and get the moisture out of it, it stays good. Use it over and over.

Rick, you still should know some old cable splicers or access to a supply building. I carried many many bags on my truck to dry out wet cable. You can get a lifetime supply for nothing. I have no idea how much I have but one caution. One grain fell on a stainless steel pistol and made a pit in the steel after a couple of days.

I thought this was a good idea. Thought I'd bump it up for others to see.
