I don't know how close the fires are to any of our members and friends in Australia, but be safe. http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,489589,00.html

...and to make matters worse, it looks as though 85 people have died so far because of arsonists. http://www.news.com.au/dailytelegraph/story/0,22049,25026642-5001021,00.html

Wild fire is the most likely SHTF event to poleaxe this community. The down side to living in the National Forest, with millions of dead standing spruce. It is not if, but when.

:eek::eek:.......Did I say there is only one road in or out.........:eek::eek:

Do you have a bark beetle problem up there? In some areas around the country they are bad. Just wondering how the cold affects them.

If I knew how to give you guys some links I would, but I don't, so I can't. Sorry.

Terrible situation here all in all. Massive flooding in northern Queensland at the same time as these massive fires in Victoria. It's going to be weeks before the body count is all done.

Some towns are completely destroyed.

Lots of people died on the roads near or on the way to or from their homes trying to get to the homes or get away from them.

Some people survived the 10 storey flames by driving their cars into dams, some by wriggling down Wombat holes (big burrowing beasties) and covering themselves with wet woolen blankets.

The ones who survived with the least hassle/pain were those who had built some kind of shelter beforehand.

I think I saw that the body count was up to 180 so far with 4000 people homeless.

The fires are still burning and next week is going to be hot again.

Watch this space.....
