I got to thinkin what a deadly combination of materials I have in my pack. Considering the flamable liquids, batteries+ammo, poisonous moth balls and pesticides. I hope my survival pack doesn't kill me!

You keep moth balls and pesticides in your "survival" pack ?

Mothballs are snake and bear deterrents(for camping), and I carry mosquito spray.

Mothballs are snake and bear deterrents, and most people some mosquito spray.

Bug spray - good! Mothballs - breath mints for bears!

Batteries and ammo don't mix!

Edit: What got me thinkin about this is I threw a couple batteries in my carharts pocket for my radio at work, I forgot that I was out shooting my 22 earlier and had loose shells in my pocket.

Yeah def don't keep mothballs in your pack there is no real beneficial reason i can think of. My pack I try to compartmentalize as much as I can in tins and other types of things where the batteries aren't going to be in contact with anything else and either is my ammo. This is also good for when it starts to rain hard or your pack gets dunked the in river/stream by accident so not everything would be ruined or inoperable. I would take a look at everything you have in there and try to figure out better ways to store and then get rid of a few things, because it sounds like you could be a walking bomb waiting to happen.

I have batteries as well. I have two different mini mag flashlights, plus two spare AA batteries. My pack is really a duty belt rig with several compartments around the belt.

Edit: What got me thinking about this is I threw a couple batteries in my carharts pocket for my radio at work, I forgot that I was out shooting my 22 earlier and had loose shells in my pocket.

Back when I was an instructor at GCRES. I had a thigh pocket full of 5.56 blanks. I stopped in at the BDOC to pick up some 9 volt batteries for a couple of students who needed it for their MILES gear. Without thinking I dropped two 9 volt batteries into the same pocket as the 5.56 blanks. About 2 minutes later there was a loud pop inside the BDOC. It startled everyone in there and we started looking around for the source of the sound. Suddenly there was another loud pop and one of the others in the tent noticed my left thigh pocket was smoldering. I opened the pocket and started dumping the contents on the floor. Just for giggles we took a 5.56 blank and taped it to the top of a 9 volt battery. It don't take very long for the round to pop!
