I need to restock my supply but can't remember where I bought it from.

I think this was linked to a while back (can't find post). Is this the authentic stuff? Thanks.

Not all 7 stranded para cord is created equal. It may fit your needs, but I am kind of leary of advertising that uses terms like GI Braid, but doesn't identify a mil-spec number. It may be fine, but seems like they are trying to lead buyers to a conclusion that isn't there.

Well where do you get yours?

I purchased 1200 ft locally. Found this site http://www.bestglide.com/550_cord_info.html where it looks authentic. I have not purchased anything from them, so can't vouch for them. The stuff you're looking at may work fine. I bought some knock-off stuff once. It had seven strands. Thought I'd test it. It broke at just under 400 pounds - still did everything I needed it to do.

According to this guy (http://www.survivalistboards.com/showthread.php?t=36592), Cabella's will suffice. The real stuff comes from bestglide.com (http://www.bestglide.com/550_cord_info.html). Question resolved, thanks.

I get mine at my local Base Exchange. They carry Brigade Quartermasters 550 paracord. You can also order it direct from Brigade Quartermasters at www.actiongear.com/

I have done business with bestglide.com, as Mitch said they only sell the real Gov Cert 550 cord and supply the Certification Certificate. They have great Costumer service to boot.

I e-mailed best glide and asked them their price on 1000ft rolls of 550 para cord and they e-mailed me back yesterday evening. Their price is $95.00 a roll plus shipping and handling. That sounded a little pricey to me.

Other paracord prices I've seen run about $6.95/100ft, or $16/300ft
bestglide.com's is ~$10/100ft (based on your information)

So it is indeed pricey and you'll have to ask yourself if you want to pay the premium over the cabela brand for the extra 50lbs or so.

I went ahead and ordered a 1000ft. roll from Cabelas. I can't see paying that extra price for practically the same thing.

Yea I'd say Cabela's is probably the best bet all-around based on the test linked to in my previous post. I only went with bestglide because I found they had Frosts Moras on hand, which saved me shipping if I had to buy from two different sites :D:D

There is another site that has a good price but I am not sure that it is the real McCoy. The site is :http://www.rangerjoes.com. They are selling 1000ft. rolls for $37.99.

Call me crazy, but I'll spend the extra couple of dollars per 100', for the real Gov Certified para cord with the Certificates, when my life or someone else's is at risk.

Quality stuff and about $8 per 100 feet.

They also offer it in international orange which works great for lanyards on small, easily misplaced gear (SAK, firesteel, matchsafe, whistle, etc).
