Well here comes our coldest winter weekend so far this year and its time for the Boy Scouts Klondike. We'll check-in Friday night with temperatures near zero and chill factors ten to fifteen degrees below that. Were expecting three hundred boys from the district this year.

Were staying through Sunday and the boys are very excited. On the other hand I could only get one other adult to go out with us.

Anyway, I'm looking forward to a good time. I have eight boys going with me and all of them are good Scouts. :)

I'm only responsible for eight. Last year I ran the whole event, I don't want to do that again.

You folks do realize that the 2 adults are with PVGOUTDOORS' troop only right? There will be many troops there, each with its own adult leadership watching over their own scouts.

These kinds of outings are a blast! The enthusiasm alone is something to behold. Usually the way these things are run each team of scouts have built a sled with harness arrangement that they haul along a circuit of a mile or more. The circuit has several stations on it each of which has a task the scouts must perform. They are graded on how well they do at each station. The event includes all the scout teams preparing their own lunches, usually over a fire that they make. At the end of the day scores are tallied and prizes given for each station winner and the overall winner. Very cool!
