Know Your Moss -
I don't - know the name of it anyway. But I can find it in the woods.

There is a type of moss we use while fishing. If you put it in a pack covering your fish - and keep it wet - it will keep your fish fresh for three days - even when the weather is warm.

I found some photos here:

I think it is the "Hair Cap Moss."

Think you're right. Even in E. KY we have what you described. Years ago an old family cemetery on top of a hill, no road no path was covered by a deceased relative around 1900 and several years ago no weeds, just a nice hilltop of moss in the middle of the woods. Looked great yet never visited by anyone.

our cemetary has a wierd patch of grass. It is green, and obviously alive, but not attatched to the ground. like a piece of sod, but it has been on the soil for years and never grew into it. Its pretty wierd, and you can just pick it up.

AS a kid, fishing with my grandfather. He would put the fish he caught in a wash tub in the bottom of the boat,Half full of water with a bunch of spanish moss and it would keep them from jumping out and they would stay alive all day.
