Originally from upstate New York, I lived in the Catskill mtns where I learned to hunt and fish. We lived on a substantial amount of property that allowed for me as a kid to "explore" how to use survival skills. I've always been interested in living off grid but I've always had modern luxuries of electric and heat provided by the big power conglamorates! I served in the USAF for a time and learned other important skills. I now go out and try to get into a situation where I can test my mind and body to see just what I need work on. I never leave home without at least a 72 hour BOB. By no means am I an expert on survival matters, I'm still really green and here to learn. I now live in western Michigan in a suburb of Grand Rapids and I feel out of my element here......always have, always will.
