Thanks all, have enjoyed my time on board so far, good mix of information and humour, I can see if I am not careful, I may learn something ;).
I live near Ft Dix, and currenty work just north of Asbury Park near Ft Monmouth. Is just under 100 miles round trip daily, but the company is pretty good. Have only a couple years left here (closing Ft Monmouth in 2010/11) then back to upstate NY (Syracuse) where I grew up.

You drive by some familiar sights then. Lived in Little Silver, dad worked at Ft Monmouth.

Nice area , housing costs are outrageous, that is why I live near Ft Dix. Too many people from The Big Apple here, makes fo a traffic nightmare now. You have the right idea, get out and stay out

Yep - left in 1975. The house I grew up in - parents bought for $11,500. Sold it back in 80's for $135,000. I was visiting about 3 or 4 years ago and noticed it was up for sale......$495,000. To me, it will always be a $11,500 house.

Have a friend, built his house in Red Bank around 1975, a rancher, 3bdr, cost about 20K to build,, sold it just before the real estate bust for 1.5 Million. So many people did not use their head an got into those :funny: Mortgages.
