Bow and Drill

Made and used a bow and drill kit with a Cedar board, Cedar Drill, Pine block and Alder bow. Was looking for the challenge of getting Cedar on Cedar. Looking to make a new kit now.

what are some successful combos that you guys have used?

Sagebrush spindle and board works for me every time. My bow is willow. If you want a challenge try pine, I only got it to work once out of about 60 attempts.

I use a Ceder fire board with a Yucca spindle, Works great here. Ive tried to get a coal with pine, But I cant make it happen.

Avoid the resinous woods like pine.
