I have been on a couple of committees looking at the Bird flu in our area. There are several good sites to keep on top of the latest news and developments. This is one of the best we have found. http://www.birdflutoday.com/ Another good place for information is The World Health Organization.

Does anyone know how long it will live on a object. For example the U.S. Mail.....? If you leave the mail in the mail box. And there was no delivery on Sunday, and you fetched the weeks mail on Monday A.M. said mail's most recent contact would be 46 Hours.

I have assumed that if one had lot's of food, and no human contact, other than touching the mail...???? Maybe there would be no mail.

What if the airlines started flying "sick planes" where all the sick people had to fly together rather than letting them get on the plane with ME and spew their germs in MY air?

What if one country was designated the "pandemic country" and everyone with avian flu had to move there. The rest of the world could live flu free.

What if they gave some people the real vaccine and some people a placebo shot. Wouldn't some of the folks that received the placebo still be okay?

What if they started a cat flu that humans could get. Would it offset the bird flu?

What if you were only allowed to have your temperature taken rectally? A LOT of people would get well real quick. I sure would.

What if you get the bird fly and chirp when you cough?

Just some what ifs....

could be... I have relocated further north myself, with family and we are gearing up for the winter. we generally have supplies to last 3 months with no heat or power. I have been upping the house hold requirements so that by the new year we will be set to survive for 3 years off the grid.

They said it's not a matter of if but when the virus mutates and to expect a 30% casualty rate. With air travel it will be fast moving before it's recognized.
They said the virus will not be airborne however, fluid from a sneeze or cough will transport the virus.

Glad it's not airborne. Wasn't the Spanish flue of 1918 airborne? Wasn't that a 2.5% mortality rate?

One of the reasons WWI ended was because the pandemic decimated the replacement pool of the world's armies. 20 million died world wide. Try recruiting with those numbers.
