this is an exelent method of spearing things the spear head penetrates, then seperates from the shaft leaving a barbed point attatched to a long cord
The basic parts are a shaft, a bird bone, and a fish shaped spear point. (sand dollar heart)

Just fit the bone to the shaft so that the point is centered...

the next step is to lash the bone securely..

Punch a small hole in the end of the bone , insert point and pull slightly on the cord and the spear is ready to use.

All of the parts work well with each other, and there is not any difficult bone or wood work to do. it is a trustworthy method.

Maybe you could just break the bone to a point instead of using a sanddollar heart also?
Anyways, that is a great idea for a spear.

I use Natural Bee's Wax, or Black walnut oil rubbed into the cordage

There is a few other good weapons that wedge into a holder then stay with the "prey",
leaving the Hunter with a reloadable base for launching another shot. even blow darts I make with points that seperate from the cone shaft. they work nicely and weigh enough
to take down a ground hog or raccoon.
