which means that half the population are BELOW that.
Also, Koko, a gorilla, scored 90 on the exact same test.
uh huh, and a recent study said that 87% of all statistics are wrong....

Don't feel blue Bragg. With work, you can get yourself up to average.

Any refrences available for this? I have taken some IQ test that I have found on the internet and I don't hold much stock in them. It would be a shame if the test did come from a cheap, unprofessional writer...

At least 50% of the time

Well on the bright side...its getting easier to be "above average"
It just seems that poor ol' Bragg is having to work to "get up" to average in so many areas lately,(please reference certain other threads over the last couple of days) this iq thing is just another cruel twist of fate
I believe the other thread had something to do with "going soft"...

On a more serious note though, I find the less intelligent easier to get along with. Witness my association with the various dolts and derelicts on this board.

Not sure if i fall into the dolt or derelict catagory. I was something of a derelict when i was a kid, mostly grew out of it, mostly. But it seems the more i know, the less i understand so i have to learn more. So maybe i am slow, so i guess i fit into the dolt caragory.
Oh, well heavens above. I missed out on all the name callin' and fun pokin'. I hate it when that happens. However, as it turns out:
"Since the twentieth century IQ scores have increased at an average rate of around three IQ points per decade in most parts of the world.[46] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IQ#cite_note-45) This phenomenon has been named the Flynn effect (aka the "Lynn-Flynn effect") named after Richard Lynn (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Richard_Lynn) and James R. Flynn (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/James_R._Flynn). Attempted explanations have included improved nutrition, a trend towards smaller families, better education, greater environmental complexity, and heterosis (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Heterosis).[47] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IQ#cite_note-46) Tests are therefore renormalized occasionally to obtain mean scores of 100, for example WISC (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wechsler_Intelligence_Scale_for_Children)-R (1974), WISC-III (1991) and WISC-IV (2003). Hence it is difficult to compare IQ scores measured years apart, unless this is compensated for."

I reckon I best be mosin' along. Tain't no need in hangin' 'round cher. Tain't nothin' to see.

Isn't it impossible for the population's average IQ to be anything other than 100 since the IQ of the entire population is normed to 100? I'm talking about the entire population, and not subgroups within it. The test remains constant, and the results keep dropping, then current results COMPARED to earlier results would drop.
But the average joe is way better at computer games and surfing internet trash than his predecessors. I bet they didn't test for that.
I'm talking about the entire population as opposed to one sub-population. You also have to eliminate the outlying statistical anomalies in order to correlate your results. Your turn.

This fact became perfectly clear to me when I visited this site:
http://www.math.ca/Competitions/IMO/histsum.html
It is actually quite interesting. It is a list of the name of the kids who were members of the Canadian team for the International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO).
Take a quick look at the names on the older teams (bottom of the list), and scroll up the list to see if you notice any changes over time.
All I know is anyone with a name like Farzin Barekat deserves better than a silver. He would probably have earned a gold if his name would have been Farzin Bucknakedkat.

IMO it is not unusual for immigrants that come to a new land with new opportunities work really hard to take advantage of the opportunities that are afforded them.
That would include about 99% of the families represented on this forum. Maybe more!

After driving a transit bus at a major University for several years I can agree with that survey; most of the college students seem to have an IQ smaller than their shoe size. I'm becoming a genius by default. When your bus driver can out-wit you most of the time you know you have a problem. I was once told by a man with an alledged IQ of 180 that I had one around 150. My wife seems to disagree. Hmmmm....

Agreed. I know it's just anecdotal, but the stories that my dad told me - came here, spoke no English......the efforts that he put in to achieve what he did were - as he put it - his way of saying thank you for the opportunity that was provided to him.

IQ tests aren't really the most accurate test of intelligence out there. There might be someone who scores 60 on one, but is an artistic genius...
Having said that my IQ is 130 lol
Well, there you go. Proof they aren't accurate.:D

Sounds like you were driving mostly frat boys from the social fraternities. Do you know why they have social frats? Because they're not smart enough to get into a real frat.
*zing!*
Seriously, there were a couple social frats where the people were nice and actually had some depth.
