Ive read about crossing beringi straits but there are different opinions about it. Some say its impossible to cross beringi straits because it wont freeze completely but there have been successful crossings between those two lands.
Anyone have informations about when is ice thickest at beringi straits?
information about where to find companion for the trip would be great too.

To answer your question - I found this http://www.angusadventures.com/beringstrait.html It does not seem to be a likely trip soley on foot.

Also found this http://www.geekeasy.com/travel/articles/bering_strait.shtml So apparently it can be done. As the site says - very dangerous - and then there's that whole being arrested thing that may put a damper on the party.

Have you read the works of Knud Rasmussen? He traveled from Greenland to Siberia by dog team. Crossing across all of Canada and Alaska. There are several people who have retraced his route over the years.

A man named Karl Bushby has done it recently (2006). It is my understanding that it is not possible to do it all winter, but it can still be done at certain times. It is recommended to take a survival suit like crab fishermen have, because there may be short stints of swimming involved. Also, you will get detained (arrested) in Russia if you don't have all the proper paper work- so you have to line all that up months in advance.

Also, I'll be your companion on this adventure...lets just negotiate a price.:D:cool::rolleyes::eek:

there are two islands between Alaska and Russia, between those 2 islands are only 2 or 3 miles. It would be 20-25 miles from Russia to islands and then 20-25 miles from islands to Alaska. I heard that theres gulf between Russia and Alaska and it doesnt freeze at winter is it true? I afraid that there might be thin ice and i would fall through.

most people do it by boat since ice conditions are too unfavourable. You may start out on foot but chances are you'd die, to put it bluntly.
