call this a rant or what have you i simply call this an observation.Ever notice how back in the 50's or so people knew about their neighbors and how to live in the outdoors they didn't need all the fancy gear we have now they made due with what they had, not so now we have become angry fat lazy self obsessed obnoxious (enough about bragg) only concered with getting what we think we are entitled to. Maybe we need a depression to bring us all back down to earth. Nobody volunteers any more, i don't want this to happen but maybe it would be the best kind of like a hard cleanseing spring rain, if it does go down the john d crapper then i wish you all the best, but we will see what happens to the weak (mentally and phsically) not trying to be mean just stating law of averages and laws of nature, best of luck ya''l
i'll see ya on the other side, i''l have a cold one waiting for ya.

Every notice how people died a lot younger in 1950 than they do today? I'll bet folks today would just love to have a nice case of small pox. You won't find that around here today. Remember DDT? Asbestos? No? They had it in 1950. Malaria, too. Nothing better than a case of the chills followed by the sweats. Now that was America!! What's that? Of course they complained about Truman. He was a politician wasn't he? Got us into Korea didn't he, the no good bum. Yeah, those were the good old days.

i'm not done..
how friggen hard is it to write an e-mail or pick up the phone how lazy self absorbed can people be really!

crashdive123

e-mail? Wouldn't a hand written letter fit the bill? Just kidding - sort of. When I want to get "more personal" I always write a letter, never an e-mail.

Now that was funny!! Are you done yet?

I saw an experiment some years ago that you probably have seen, too. It started with two rats in a rather large space. The rats were happy, acted normal, shared food, etc. After a couple of months (or whatever) there were like 75 rats (all offspring) crammed into the same space, all psychotic, all fighting, stealing food from each other, cowering in the corners, etc.

I mean....hang on a minute.

Hey you!! Get out of my yard. Go on!!

how many of you have lied about how busy you are to someone as an excuse for not keeping in touch (yeah woow the summer went by sooo quick i meant to call you a dozen times but i've been soo busy) yeah right busy discussing whose more of an idiot the freakin bear of the bear hisself

Rick

One day my son asked me, "Dad, do you want to run a marathon?"

And I said, "Are you out of your freakin' mind?"

I may have missed your point, Remy.

When I watched the vid it connected for me. Here's the Clff Note version (busy ya know:D). The father personifies what a real man is - it's not always about wilderness trekking. Spirit - no better way to demonstrate it IMO. Connection - how many would try to "explain" things rather than help another achieve it?

hhmmm ah ok let me help you understand try googling the word nothing

Rick

Well...i googled "nothing", and "something" (705,000,000 results) came up.
Now what ?

Alan Watt wrote several books, however in one book he builds the case that you can't have nothing. That the concept of nothing only exists within "nothing-everything" just as you can not grasp black with out the the concept not black. And life only exist within not-life, or that life and death are part of the same oneness.

I dunno, if it wasn't for them chain letters I get in email I wouldn't get any mail at all. I'm planning on hanging on to them and cherishing them (well except for the Viagra offers, I'm responding to them, apparently even the celebrities are using it! so that must make it ok, at least that's what the last letter said)

I think WE is just feeling a little lonely. Why don't we all show him some love and send him all the forwards we get in our email boxes. I agree that the world is getting very crowded and a lot colder than it used to but whatcha gonna do, right?

son the ol eagle never gets lonely, i live for my own company for i truley understand myself and am comfortable with myself how many of you can honestly say that.

Rick

Hopleak, why is it that if someone disagrees on this subject "they don't get it"? Perhaps there is nothing to get. Yesterday is no different than today and will be no different than tomorrow. As much as we try to change, we only manage to stay the same. The spirit of man remains the same. You are focusing on a few and assigning those characteristics to the masses which is not true for either time period. I doubt those folks crowded into New York back then were any different than the folks in New York today.

Rick, my post #27 refers to Remy's #26, which refers to my post #25. Reread post # 25. which has to do with the concept of nothingness, and has zilch to do with then vs. now.

Sourdough
10-12-2008, 01:15 PM
Yes, Remy I understood completely. Post #31 has nothing to do with #25 or #27.

Now refer to: Who cares.

Changes, changes, and more changes.

I have noticed a change in WE. It happened awhile back, a little before his vacation of the site. His return brought back a deeper thinking man. Someone who is looking for, or maybe has found something.

Reading his original post, I can honestly put myself into agreement with him. As far as Remy, I understand his post and video and how he attributes it to the original thread.

Both were very true to fact. The misc. posts, like many are joking, wander a bit, or may run off topic, depending on how they are read.

That being said. WE, if you are ever down in my part of Georgia, please let me know and we can share a bottle of applejack, around a little fire across the street. It won't be the big woods that you are use to, but we can listen to the coyotes, the owls, the beavers and many more critters that sing in the night.

I won't make an excuse not to do this, and if for some reason your vehicle breaks down. Call me, as I will volunteer to get you going again.

I can assure you, that I don't make up excuses not to see or visit with others. Personally, most know, I don't like to visit others. Come the weekends, I like my home in the mountainous suburbs. I'm kind of an arsehole like that.
