This lady got more in her coffee than she expected

CEDAR RAPIDS, IA (AP) - It wasn't just the caffeine that gave an Iowa woman an extra jolt after she had her morning coffee. It was also the bat she found in the filter.
The Iowa Department of Public Health says the woman reported a bat in her house but wasn't too worried about it. She turned on her automatic coffee maker before bedtime and drank her coffee the next morning.
She discovered the bat in the filter when she went to clean it that night. The woman has undergone treatment for possible rabies.
Health officials say that the bat was sent to a lab but that its brain was too cooked by the hot water to determine whether it had rabies.

Reminds me of when I put a "Night crawler" in my uncles cup of coffee. One of my fonder memories of the man.

How does a bat get into your coffee filter? Those things are sealed up tight where the filter goes. She must have left it open, left the room, the bat crawled in, then she shut the door without looking.

.........or it got in in the coffee processing plant. They are pretty tiny. She may not have noticed when scooping, especially if it was done when half awake in the morning.

I don't know Robin..."Mr. Coffee" just doesn't sound ...superhero-ish, but I suppose we could give him a try out and if he works out, we'll let him join the team

If we don't go with Mr. Coffee we could take a look at that new application.....let's see.....I know it's around here someplace.....oh - here it is.....Superman - yeah - sure - like somebody's gonna buy into that. Let's stick with Mr. Coffee.

Just in case you didn't think finding a bat in your coffee was weird......

In July, Abbie Hawkins, 19, a hotel receptionist in Norwich, England, said she found a baby bat nestled inside the padded bra she had been wearing for several hours. "When I was driving to work, I felt a slight vibration but I thought it was just my mobile phone in my jacket pocket," she told the Daily Telegraph. Hawkins had fetched the bra off of a clothesline that morning, where it had been hanging overnight. First reaction: "I thought how mean I was for disturbing it." [Daily Telegraph, 7-8-08]

Laughing beatle, luckily I was not the driver, probably a good thing, cuz me and bees don't get along,it is the one creature that gives me the hives, and it doesn't even have to sting me,all I have to do is see or hear one nearby and I get chills. And I'm not even allergic to'em.

Hmmm... understood. My experience involved a LARGE bumblebee. Didnt get stung, just suprised the bees out of me. unfortunatly the car i was driving ended up in the ditch. kind of hard to remove your shirt and bra when driving...at some point you loose sight of the road...;)
