I did the simple MODIFIED ESBIT STOVE, and what a difference. (slaps self on head, should have had a V8).

Now starting the J. Falk's 4 in 1 Cat Stove.

That is a pretty simple mod, and easier than bringing a full wind screen. Nice.

It was so basic it's killing me! I've always used a full wind screen, these flaps are nothing to pack.... duhh

I'm telling myself I would have thought up the modifications to the Esbit with a bit more time. Yes, I would have! Really!

I did the "ALTOIDS STOVE" this evening. I used one of the little half size tins, and used the perlite. What an easy stove to make and he was right on two things. In an Esbit stove, the height is perfect, and it does look like an Esbit tab on steroids when burning.
Real easy and inexpensive.

Anybody remember those old "Cat's Whisker" AM radios they used to make out of scrap metal & wood? Weren't they also called "Foxhole Radios"?

They sure were, Sarge. Here's a post I did on them some time ago.

Wasn't there one that you had to touch to a house radiator?

Thanks Rick! I thought it had been posted before, but had forgot where, when, & by who. that's why I'm always looking for ways to keep important info like this to the forefront where we can locate it easy! Okay Wolves, Rick has done all the work for us. Enjoy!:D

It's amazing how well those things work...without any batteries. Powered by the radio waves they receive. I bought about 10 diodes several years ago and still have most of them them in my bag. The hard part today is finding an older carbon receiver but having worked for La Telephona Gigantica I've got a few of those around, too.:D

Someone posted the modified Esbit a couple of weeks ago and I was looking at the Trangia then. I don't have the Tig/Heli arc so it was just a nice read.

That was me, I did that mod. As far as the Trangia mod, there are other ways to attach those same legs w/o the Tig/Heli arc.

I thought about bees wax but then there's that whole flying close to the sun thing. Oh, wait. That's another story. Never mind.
