What does a police state look like?

Here is how the police dealt with ABC news producer Asa Eslocker. Mr. Eslocker was standing on a public sidewalk with a camera crew when Democratic Party officials were exiting a hotel. He was doing a story on major donors to the Democratic efforts and some of those major donors were coming out of the hotel. Police decided that he had no right to do that story and began by manhandling him and pushing him off the sidewalk into traffic. ABC News reports that the office told Eslocker: “You’re lucky I didn’t knock the f**k out of you.” Here is some video of the incident. Welcome to America, land of the free. In this next video things are a bit sketchy but USA Today and Rocky Mountain News reported on the incident leading up to it. Alicia Forrest, 24, was watching a protest when a police officer yelled, “Back it up, b***h.” He then struck her with his baton causing her to fall to the ground in pain. After she got up she was being interviewed peacefully by reporters about the incident. Apparently those interviews were enough. The police are seen then rushing in and grabbing her and taking her away. That is one way to put an end to interview.

The really great thing about living in the United States as opposed to a Police State is that even when a couple of over zealous officials do the wrong thing, it gets reported. Then measures are taken to avoid a repeat. Just like with the massive gun confiscation in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, steps were taken to not let that happen again. Bragg - I think you're casting your line in the wrong pond.

Misdirection, decoys, false leads, dead ends, diversions should be their bread and butter. They need to employ guerilla tactics if they want to fight the machine. Organize into cells. Use couriers to communicate. Don't organize on the net. The govt owns it. Always assume your organization has been penetrated. Be a Spud. Constantly vet people.

The students didn't even take minimal security precautions. They thought they could organize a protest. And be left alone by Big Brother. Hah!

Out of the 110 or so that were thrown on the ground and handcuffed for up to an hour, only 5 were arrested for telling the police to "F" off. Charged with inciting to riot. What a pile of crap. They hadn't did anything wrong...... just a bunch of kids.

My God what has society become to so casually accept such actions from a public official. Those police officers involved in this should all be ashamed of themselves. How would they like it if a group of thugs burst into their house in the morning, thrown their family members on the ground and cow tied their hands and feet? Any Judge who signed a warrant like this needs to be literally thrown out of office on their petard!

The police didn't use any force against them, but they did follow their orders that no one vet or otherwise could march on the DNC, personally I think it is their right to march but I would never march because I was a soldier, I saw no rank above Pvt there, and you cannot just walk into a political convention and demand anything. I didn't like some of what I did as a soldier, but a soldier follows orders and its a war, things happen in war. A private is not the one to decide if and when the troops go anywhere. And those Airborne soldiers should know better, kinda disgusting that a soldier would do that, but I understand how they feel. My opinion: (talking about the Columbine kids and other kid shooters) if the parents were negligent about parenting their kids, then the parents are responsible for the actions of the kids, whether or not the parents actively taught the Columbine killers how to make bombs or buy guns or not.

There comes a point where the parents must be responsible for the actions of under-aged kids. The reason we do have occasional kid shooters is because of laws (or judges) that do not crack down on lazy or clueless parents, and allow this problem to continue.

I think public spanking for minors convicted of certain crimes, and a caning of adults in public, would be a step in the right direction. It sure helps Thailand (or was it Singapore?).
