 Did everyone hit the ignore button on me when we were discussing the two that Sarge refers to as bw numpties? I agree with Sarge 100%, those two could get out alive, but....

Bottom line, I think they're idiots and their venture is idiotic.

I also think that private messages are meant to be kept private.

VW, I've found your postings insightful as always,

Now I'll go back to munching on a couple of paperbacks I have left (burp)

i've been eating so much meat i almost feel sick even had some moose steaks(not norm) my wife thinks i'm a hypocryte for raising an orphaned moose yet i have one of his relatives for dinner. to me i have learned more about moose in the time i have spent raising them that i don't think i possibly ever could have. i normally am not a big fan of tom browns but i do agree when he talks about getting to know your prey and stalking it respecting it now nothing against you rifle hunters but i can put down anything at 1000 yards on a bad day so to me bow hunting is more personal but thats an ethics issue for another time..

I learned early on to not get too attached to the animals we raised, cause we raised them for one thing and one thing only, went a whole winter without eating beef, cause I raised that steer like he was a puppy....after that.I just fed them and walked away,

I'm not a big Tom Brown fan either. I grew up about 3 counties away from him back in the 70's.

That's Cody Lundin, not Tom Brown. You got the wrong author.

I stalk animals and get in close for a kill, but I still use a rifle. I'm just not that good with a bow and I don't want some poor hoofed beasty staggering around with an arrow that I stuck in it. I've never had to follow a blood trail man, cuz you know..dead animals don't stagger around making blood trails. I'm not a big fan of Tom Brown's either, I think he writes like he's the only authority on anything, but I do agree on knowing what you're doing in terms of your prey. Like I said in an earlier posting, I track animals by knowing them, not by following their footprints.

I wish I could 'multi-quote'!

I'm better with a bow than a rifle, and I don't hunt otherwise. Just a personal choice.

I agree with you about Tom Brown, but I have to admit, his was the first survival book I read.

I track more out of curiosity than anything. I hunt rarely, and kill less..

wareagle69

tom brown was the first survival books for me also. I think he gets so much bad PR because of his spiritual side(so i have heard) I do not need to be one with the rock that i am making my fire pit with. if i spend good money to learn skills from someone that's what i want, not let's that the creator for this fire.

I do not hunt either, I like to know how to and how to clean and use the fur and store the meat, and how to track, so if i ever need to use the skills i will have the confidence to do so. But i have enough meat from my father-in law who kills everything in sight, I think that is why my wife is so into wildlife rehabilitation.
