To all of our friends on the Gulf Coast that are in the potential path of this storm...please stay alert. If you need to evacuate - board things up early and get out of town. Have a plan. Stuff can be replaced.....you can't.

If you are evacuating, today would be the day. Traffic will get worse, gas stations along the evacuation routes will run out. http://hurricane.accuweather.com/hurricane/storms.asp?ocean=atlantic&storm=Gustav&imagetype=move&stormNum=6

Traffic already slow on interstate, and gas stations out of fuel since this morning.

Local programming was interrupted to show what was happening down in the gulf. Looking very bad.

Be safe everyone down there, prayers going out from the Bragg family .

From what I can see from far away Alberta, the lessons of 3 years ago in storms Katrina and Rita, have been learned, worked around and solutions implemented. As reported by our media, this time round, the evacuation is going well. Real systems seem to have been put in place and America and Americans are again showing that can do attitude. Well done America. Hopefully Gustav will weaken, but if it doesn't, Americans will rise to the challenge and meet it. It's no easy thing implementing mass evacuations nor in ensuring plans actually run for the most part smoothly. This Canuck is impressed.

The new governor, Bobby Jindal, appears to be doing a fantastic job.

I saw where the mayor proclaimed this would be the "Mother of all storms". Saddam would be so proud.

It seems many folks on several forums I frequent, have decided to stay and ride it out - my prayers are out for their safety and good fortune.
The Internet News says the storm dropped to Cat Three before hitting - hopefully won't be as bad as Katrina.
Yep, the new Governor this time has his ducks in a row. Even that fool Nagin seems to have finally learned his lesson.

Still, one has to wonder how many naive sheeple will be sitting on their rooftops awaiting Federal aid, with NO food and NO water? Some simply do not learn.

So far the levies are holding. Not over yet though. Remember all of the news reporters during Katrina after it passed....."We dodged a bullet"....may have been a bit premature with that report. Seems like they've learned their lesson so far.
