six shot revolver rifle

why hasn't (to my knowledge) anyone ever made a revolving six-shooter rifle, lol? it'd be kinda cool, wouldn't it? in fact it'd be quick and easy to load/reload, and six shots to a bear just might slow him down enough for ya to stay alive. yea yea, don't tell me about the beauty of assalt rifles. lol.

Many 1855's have the clip hook on the grip so that a stock can be added. This works well with the 44 buffalo pistol with the 12 plus inch barrel.

pretty sweet. i like the idea of those "spools'' i call them, don't know the real name. u just pre-load them and pop them into the cylinder instead of having to load each bullet into each chamber.

sounds easier/cheaper than pre loading and capping some extra cylinders, thoug swapping a spent cylinder out for a prepped one can be done pretty darned quick by someone whoe's practiced.

Is this really considered a rifle ? looks more like a pistol with a rifle stock,,,, what actually determines what is a rifle and what is a pistol ?? barrel length ?

Uberti still makes an 1858 Remington carbine cap and ball. Its priced between $400 and $500 at various black powder vendors on line like Dixie gunworks. Folks who buy them seem to like them a lot.

Justin, you sure are rifling through old threads. Anyways, I think I saw a show on the History Channel that explained the reason they stopped this design in rifles. They said that with the rotating cylinders, hot gases blast out through the gap between the end of the cylinder and the rifle bore. With a pistol it is no problem due to the way you hold a pistol. But with a rifle, there is a good chance your hand might be there and you end up with shorter fingers. ouch.
