Looks like Fay is headed your way. The latest info has it making landfall around Tampa, but will skirt the Gulf coast for a while and then impact most of the rest of the state. Make sure you're ready.

Hopefully it will not gain strength beyond the predicted Cat 1. I saw some Cat 2 predictions yesterday, those seem to have been downsized to all Cat 1. Basin water temperatures are so high though .... Two more tropical waves headed out from Africa right on Fay's coattails. I really hate this time of year. Best wishes to the neighbors in the Keys and West Coast (Florida). Stay safe!

Here's the latest track prediction. Looks like it'll be quite a rain maker for all of you north of Florida that are in the path.

For us (north east part of state) we're looking at rain, rain, rain with a little wind. My mother-in-law lives north of Tampa, so may drive over to pick her up tonight and bring her up to stay for a few days.

Well, we left Mom-in-law where she was. Looks like Fay is going to head off shore around central east Florida, strengthen to a hurricane and then hang a left and head for right here. Right now they're predicting 80 mph winds with higher gusts. Something to look forward to I guess.

When I was out and about today I asked my customers if they had everything they needed. One young couple....."There's a storm coming?" So we sat at their kitchen table, made a list of supplies and food, planned an evacuation route if needed.

My sister lives in Lakeland, have not heard from her,but that is normal, since her youngest child has many medical appointments each week, plus he just turned 5 and starting school, for now,but that may not work out because of his problems.

Too many times people either get hurt or put first responders in jeopardy by being stupid. I've done quite a bit of windsurfing - never took up kite sailing. You've got to know your limitations - this guy obviously didn't. They say he'll recover (he's in critical condition). Just lucky that he didn't slam into somebody else. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7WBF4raDC7s

Fay is still hanging around. So far today we've had about 8" of rain today. Lost power for about 7 hours. Winds still gusting to about 65mph. It's a slow moving storm, so the forecasters are saying no change in conditions for at least another 36 hours - looking at up to 10 more inches of rain. One spot a little further south got 26" in less than 24 hours. Something to look forward to I guess.

Melbourne got 26.2". That's about 1.5 hours south of me. The problem was, and is that the storm is moving so slow. For about 6 or 7 hours yesterday it just stopped and made no forward progress at all. Today's forecast is predicting that by the time it leasves the state it will have made a total of 6 landfalls.

Yep, 26”. “Fay may be the fourth-wettest tropical cyclone to hit Florida, judging by an unofficial rainfall total of 26.2 inches in Melbourne through 5 a.m., according to Jeff Masters, director of meteorology at private forecaster Weather Underground Inc.”

Looks like some areas may have gotten a bit more.
