Building in or around a trench could cause flooding, building a fort of what kind? Modern or older? You could go off of one of the older type of stockade forts such as Boonesborough or Dunlaps Station but on a smaller scale. Seal it between the logs with a mixture of mudd, grass/straw and it'll harden real nice.

do the fencing like a picket with the poles straight up, like a palisade.
If your gonna build a fort, for whatever reason.

VR - not sure what you're trying to accomplish with the project. Do you want to build something that has kind of an historical reference, or just a place to hang out and play around?

This is an important question. If you are only a kid looking for a fort, than it is different than if you want something to last or be a historical reference of some kind.

Of course it's an important question. Would I ever ask an unimportant question? Never mind, don't answer that.

I made a great Fort out of Popsicle sticks, it won a 5th grade award! :D

it is going to be for airsoft so it does not have to be that liveable

Man, please, whatever you end up building . . . tear it down and scatter it after you're done playing. There is nothing more jarring than to be out enjoying the wild and come across someone else's eye pollution.

Then I would suggest building it out of natural materials from the surrounding area. Concealment is probably more of an issue than durability. Think of it as a large debris hut (do a search on this forum or google if you are not sure how to make one) Since you said it does not need to be liveable, you can modify it to fit your needs for the game. I would not use lumber that you may have at home. I would also not take down anything living to build it (no need to kill stuff to play a game). As LostOutrider said, when you are through take it down so that nobody can tell it was ever there.
