I talked with my gunsmith today. He said that my new rifle should be ready Friday. I had a stainless Ruger M77 Hawkeye in .338 Winchester Magnum customized. When finished it will be wearing a 22" bbl w/iron sights and a VariXIII Euro 1.25 - 4x scope.

Gun....................$540
bbl cut&crown......$75
Action tuning.......$100
Bedding..............$150
Iron sights..........$200
Scope................$440
Rings.................$75
Having a rifle set up the way I want it. "Priceless"

Nice! The .338 Win Mag is such a great caliber. Isn't it the unofficial state rifle of Alaska? I think the majority of Alaskans I've hunted with had one. A true classic- congrats

klkak, Congrats, that's great. So I think you might want to sell me your SA M6 for a fair $200, so it helps with what ya just spent... :D

I sure do love my Leupold Vari-X III European 1.5 X 4 30MM Scopes. Even have them on my Rock River AR-15's.

Still waiting for Bases from CZ-USA so I can mount them on my .22LR's

Did you get the German # 4 reticle....?

Good for you Klak, proud to know an American and a responsible man (or woman) can get a gun made they way they want. Have fun and may you take many big game animals with it, or the Ruskie that crosses the bearing strait heading your way :D

Nothing like a personalized rifle or handgun that looks great and just feels right. Can't explain it folks like me that have used and carried some for many years know what I mean. I have my "dream pistol" but being left handed it would be too expensive to have made the way I would want.

thats some powerful Thunder stick there. I have a 300 savage that my granddad passed down to me, i use it sometimes but my .22 magnum is my "main" rifle to use.

My Browning BL-22 .22 lr. is the the rifle I use the most. However, When hunting bear, moose and caribou I like the idea of having a rifle that has Alaska sized "smack'm down". When hunting deer I most often use a Ruger 77-22 hornet or a Ruger M-77 7.62x39. Although next season I will be adding my Winchester M-94ae .44 magnum to my deer hunting rifle selection.

I'm inclined to believe that the .338 Winchester magnum is the most popular large game rifle round in Alaska.
