That's for sure, and if you are new to the area ask for instructions. It might not look bad but skip going outside to take pics.

Learn from Hurricane Rita:
1. Have an alternate evac plan that does not involve car travel on the main arteries. Keep a map with you, and accessible.
2. Fill your vehicles up with gas BEFORE the storm hits - if an evac order is given, the local gas-marts will run out very quickly.
3. Double check your go-bag - in addition to survival stuff, include things like ID, Insurance policies, bank info, Med insurance info.
4. Plan for the kids, too. Keep them busy and happy, because an unhappy child will send your stress level through the roof.
5. Be sure to have plenty of water & snacks in the car.

These are just a few bare bones things I learned from the Rita evac. Thousands of people stuck on the higways, out of gas, with no water, in a TX summer.... not pleasant.

dont wait to the last minute to evac if you have too.. when i lived in Virginia, people would wait so long that a good many of them got stuck on the interstate during the storm because the traffic is bumper to bumper and had to ride it out there.

God Bless ya'll and stay safe.

Im about 20+ miles from the coast of South Padre. They are getting hammered right now. Here where Im at its raining sideways and we got around 50mph winds but still have power. Its supposed to get a little worse but it doesnt look like its going to anything close to Katrina/Rita. Thank goodness. Just keep those folks on the coast in your prayers.

I just read a news report that some captain is sitting out the storm on his boat.

Some captains are stubborn, others are stupid.

WOW! 70 mph winds are wicked!! Just got a small tree in my front yard snapped in half, wooden swingset in the backyard taken out. My neighbor got his shed and swing set taken out also. Hope the shingles on the roof and the power holds out.

Those poor people can't catch a break. Mother Nature can be a bee-otch!
But its a cleansing in a way. Nature does things for a reason.
