Yesterday, I got curious to how long a tea candle would burn. I started at 5:36 and it lasted until 10:14. That was 4 hours and 38 minutes!! I did test it inside where there wasn't any wind so I'm not exactly sure how they do outside. If they do well, I'm going to put a couple in my bags since they don't take up much room and don't weigh much at all.

For those not knowing what a tea candle is...

One nice thing about them is that you can get a bag of 50 at Wally World for about 3 bucks.

Cat's a$$ for a firestarter too, make a little tipi out of twigs and bark, leave a little opening, light the candle and stick it in the center, away ya go., course that's pretty much the end of that candle, but if you are having trouble with your fire...it helps.

I have several in my bag. Don't leave home with it! Oh, wait. That's American Express. Well, tea candles, too.

Yeah, temps get pretty high in fires usually. Thanks for pointing that out guys, now they're just useless wait and I can quit packing them around:(

If you're worried about your tea candles melting, try this little trick. Wrap them individually and verty tightly in plastic wrap (like Saran Wrap). This way even if they do melt, your wax and wick stay in place and can still be used.

I keep several packs of the candles in house. With 20 of them I can keep the living room warm enough to survive the night, without heat.

I have used them with a box oven to bake. I have used them to heat water, when camping fire restrictions were going on. In the fall, winter and spring I keep several in the car and in my pack. 3 lit in my truck in 30F weather brought my truck up to 45F. 6 lit brought the truck up to 50F.

For their size they put out a lot of heat.

Ps : I had an idea it was 4 hour run time. Just never timed it! Now I do not have to. Thanks

I just helped myself to a handful the other day for my BOB in progress.

12 lit burned the truck up in 8 minutes.

Sorry, Don. Couldn't resist.:D
