I can make bowls. I just use a small fire. but how do you make a cup? I can't really make a smaller fire... I just don't know what to use.

You can make a cup out of bamboo or birch bark. Never tried it though. If you happen to have a chisel set on you, you could dig one out.

take a log approx cup width, cut it to cup size, make your fire, when coals are hot, scoop a handful out and place them on the top end of the cup, let them burn down, empty them, scrape out the burned parts, then repeat the process til you have your cup. the indians method.

I tried using a chisel and I just broke the wood every time. I will have to try that ember method. that makes sense but yet it never occured to me. I don't know if I will want to grab a handful of red hot coals though:D

I tried to make little bow by burning wood block with embers, but wood cracked and even split in some places... Does anyone knows why? BTW I used pine wood... I know this wood is bad for making bowls and cups because it is soft and has bitter tasting when drinking or eating from it, but I just wanted to try this technique...

You may have dried it too fast with the embers, causing it to crack.

Too much moisture in the wood. Crash, is probably right. Try a different wood and something that is dry. You can even work with kiln dried building lumber just make certain it has not been treated.
