I've found a good website that has a lot of info and recipes about making jerky:

But all these recipes require an oven. Does anyone have any information about making jerky in the field using an open fire? Things I should know, or watch out for? obviously timing will be different, and for that I'll just have to experiment, but I'd like to be able to prepare venison in camp rather than hauling it home, especially if I need to. Thanks.
