got a 20k acer wild fire [as of 6 this AM.] going on here at the moment. i've moved back to chico and the fire is about 5 miles from me. there have been steady winds with strong gusts and it's spotting in several places. paradise, butte creek canyon and butte valley have been evacuated, several local foothill roads closed and 40 homes burned, again as of this morning.
as i've heard it the fire originated along the side of highway 32, which means a cigarette was probably involved. according to cal fire, it's still under investigation, with no further information given.
everybody be safe this fire season, and if you smoke in your car, or outdoors in fire prone conditions, keep some water handy for extinguishing your buts.
please wish the foothill residents and the 31 crews out there well, this fire is not looking like being contained soon.
