does anybody have any experience with one of them. they look like a space blanket on one side and o.d.green plastic(?) on the other. they have reenforced corners with grommets. how strong are they? i think the size is 64'' by 80''. how small can they fold up too? i'am an e-tard so i can't show the picture but you can see one at goldnuggetsurplus.com/cgi-local/SoftCart.exe/online-store/scstore/p-SB023.html?... thanks

that link doesn't work and I can't find it on their website. If you can tell me which of their headings it's under I'll be happy to fix your link.

I Googled combat casualty blanket and came up with a bunch of sites. They seem to run around $3 and look like the all silver emergency blankets, except one side is green.

they also come with an orange side for emergency services.
they better ones are fairly good being much thicker then a standard mylar blanket they will hold up better to repeated use and the grommet make them great for improvised shelter

is this the one youre referring too...i kept one on my atv with a poncho for shelters.

(Old Timer's voice) Ya see sonny, waaaay back in the 60's, MPI brought out the 1st space blanket, which is just like the one your looking at now. I own a "casualty" blanket and several others to boot. Four with flouresent orange on the painted side, & one with Blue. They make a great "emergensy" tarp, fire reflector, or a wrap to keep you warm. MPI also makes one that has a hood in one corner and "hand-pouches in two others. "Emergency Essentials" has a great price on them. They're a lot stronger than those El-Cheapo's that are sold as "Space Blankets".

I'm gonna have to get one of those. Sometimes I can refold and reuse my regular cheap space blankets but more often than not I have to replace them each time I go camping.

I have several of those 2 sided tarps. A couple of them I've had for a long time. They are very handy for anything you would use a small tarp for. All of mine are O.D. & mylar. Another nice tarp I have I bought from REI but is also available else where. It's called a "Noah's tarp". It folds small enough to fit is a gallon sized ziplock bag. In the pack I carry when I'm guiding I Carry one of each.http://www.rei.com/search?query=noah%27s+tarp

I've used the Noah's tarp as a shelter and the little 2 sided tarp for a ground cover.
