Anyone a member of their local branch? I am going to begin my training next month and am wondering if anyone here is part of it.
CERT stands for Community Emergency Response Team.

lol...I'm a member of the C.E.R.T. squad, but I'm on the one that starts with computer, not community.

Sounds kind of like the old Civil Defense.

You can check with your local Fire dept, they would know.

In our area it is the local FD that is the CERT team. I am Deptuy Chief as well as I work as a paramedic in the local area. I am also a first responder/defib instructor., so yep I am.

All deputies here are CPR, AED, and standard first aid trained and we do recerts every year, we also have chemical spill training and certain members of our department are on the HAZMAT first responder team/unit. I am a member of that unit.

I've read some about it. My hometown, where I'm at now and have to visit these days since I don't live here anymore, has a local emergency planning committee that formulated a CERT. They handed out backpacks filled with the necessary supplies for it. I just wonder when a disaster does happen how many of the members will turn out to help.
