#1 wife was lamenting today that there was no more fish in the freezer.... She said that I needed to go fishing to replenish the supply... With great reluctance I agreed to drop all my other pressing business and do my husbandly duty and fill that freezer back up... That's just the kind of guy I am...

She allowed me to keep one planned obligation tomorrow (drive her a 200+ mile round trip to San Antonio), but after that I gotta go fishing...

Sometimes a man has to do what a man has to do.

And remember, a man can only fish for so long before he has to throw in a stick of dynamite.

I hope she appreciates the monumental sacrifice that you are about to make.

Well, this could take a while... The bait shop was closed, so no minnows. The crappie didn't want my jigs. I was trying to cast net a few shad and got one tilapia (brought it home, had it for supper). I gotta go back out tomorrow... Earlier start though. I was soaking wet from sweat by 8:30. I stayed till 10:30 and came on in. Started getting a headache from the heat.

I gotta get more than one a day though or she'll catch on....

The sacrifices (still hope she appreciates them) continue to mount. Keep this up and somebody will put you in for sainthood.

You lost me at sweat. I had to go get a bacon sammich and coffee just to recover reading that.

Well, I managed to bring home 11 crappie today... for the 2 dozen minnows and the 4 gallons of gas it took to do it, that puts them at around $2.75 each (beats the $20 Tilapia I got yesterday), and they weren't big crappie either... but, you can't eat money and if the woman wants fish in the freezer, then it is no object. I'm going to take the day off tomorrow...

Day off? What's that? When you're truly retired, there is no such thing!

Or........as I like to view it...........every day is a day off (until she who must be obeyed tells me otherwise).

Two days of grandkids. I'm pretty tired. Going to work in the shop and yard tomorrow.

Amen!!!

We go fishing and often. The freezer has bass, bream, stripers and walleyes.

You are right "Sometimes a man has to do what a man has to do."

To be honest, I've never needed to be asked to go fishing.
