I have a lot of Mt. Goat horns, and have thought they would make interesting knife handles. Or if you have any other idea's what could be made with them.

If left in full length they would be to long for anything but a letter opener. Maybe they could be cut in half and make two handles.

Was there some primitive use of Mt. Goat horns, some are sharp as a dagger.
I guess you could fit a wood handle and epoxy it to the 10" horn for a blade, or primitive stabbing tool.

Other than handles for knives and awls, I seen spoons/ladles from them. I think they were called Haida spoons or Haida horn spoons.

Why not sell them on the net? I'll bet you've got tons of stuff like that collected over years of hunting. People would probably pay you to get rid of it. You could sell it to knife makers or artists:rolleyes:

How long are they? I've always wanted to make a composite bow.

RBB, I think the longest is 10".

RICK, I have sold some over the years at gun shows. People ask what they are, and I tell them shedded CLAWS off my ex-wife.

hopeak,

What's the length of the shortest, thickest one? I'm working on a new blade now.

The shorter they are the thinner they are. My guess is the shortest is about 7 1/2" and maybe an 1" to 1 1/4" across at the base. But with very rapid taper to sharp point.

I can't think of any way to use them on anything be a letter opener, and keep them whole.

Rather than try to use the whole horn as a handle, can you use them as scales for a full tang?

Guess that's why you get the big bucks.. That's a great question!

Make them into BBQ utensils, they won't burn right?

That is a good idea, they would be expensive utensils, but for the rich and famous, that should not be a issue.

Fantasy knives, anything that just lays around, like a letter opener, Beer bottle opener. Maybe a candle stick holder....?
