I hate to burst the bubble of all you fire starting Rambos out there but the time to have STARTED preparing was, oh, about ten to fifteen years ago.
I never dreamed that survivalism could be so routinely BORING and, quintessentially ANTI-SOCIAL. Ooh, yeah, baby, what a great existence to get by from Day N to Day N plus one with a Glock Nine guarding your little plot of potatoes and edible flowers.

meeeowww are you still grumpy there little kitty cat.... i feel that any preparedness that someone does is worth while. lets say you are correct of the impending doom and gloom, but your time table is offf by lets say two years, any time preparing will prove helpful.
i have been training for most of my life sure sometimes i get complacent but who doesn't, i feel if i can survive the first year that most of the unfreindlys will be gone, espcially once winter hits and if its a bad winter good luck, look at crime statistics crime always goes down when its cold, that is what i am prepared for, a very hard year then things to even out(once the collapse happens) i train the same way i did when i was a ranger cage fighter and bullrider with absolute intensity best of luck if your coming to my place unless you want to help. have a coke and a smile bragg

Good. Then see you on the other side - you may have to wait for me for a looooong time after you get there but I am sure you will have plenty of company coming in with you at roughly the same time.

The lonewolf strategy will be a feeble existence at best. I can't imagine why anybody would put their family though that.
When things get sour the weak may survive but the strong will thrive.

Thank you for your opinion but after careful consideration, call me crazy, but I think I'll continue to learn, prepare and enjoy life.

Perhaps I'll just open a vein. It'll be so much quicker AND I won't have to prepare much to do that. Let's see, where is the sharp knife?

I don't bother worrying about the coming doom. I'm to busy preparing for the coming winter.

I just got a pamphlet from the V.A. in the mail today Rick. It is about suicide prevention. (They are there to help, it says). It also says that 'Engaging in risky activities without thinking' is one of the signs to watch for. 'Don't delay, call immediately'. I have the # if you'd like to have it and it is toll free. :)
Won't help, Ridge. I'm not a vet. But don't worry. I was too chicken to cut too much. I only managed to get a slow drip going so I may have to go through this thing with the rest of you.:D
