The safe-space generation gets their own show, what could go wrong?

We are back at it, casting the second season of a survival show for young people. If you have a moment, can you share this blurb with your club members?

CASTING: Survival enthusiasts age 18 – 24: Do you have what it takes to survive 6 weeks in the middle of nowhere for a cash prize? Are you an all-purpose survival expert, and/or do you have a specialized skill such as tri-athlete experience, plant expertise, primitive shelter building or fire making, nursing, EMT skills, rock climbing, spear-fishing, or trapping, that would contribute to a group of diverse young people working together to survive?

A major cable network is seeking extroverted survivalists to apply now for the survival adventure of a lifetime with cash prize. We are looking for energetic, charismatic individuals with opinions as strong as their survival skills and the confidence to back it up. Diversity of race, gender, sexual orientation and economic situations strongly welcomed and encouraged.

To apply, please email us at eileen@metalflowersmedia.com with your name, age, a photo and a short paragraph detailing your personality and survival experiences.

Thank you so much for helping me get the word out.

Warm regards,
Eileen

Eileen Kennedy

...charismatic individuals with opinions as strong as their survival skills and the confidence to back it up.
^ Seems like a euphemism...I already see the possibility that they're at least as interested in obnoxious drama and in-fighting for a good show as anything else.

Had to look up 'safe space generation' though.

It ain't that difficult to interpret. I thought the same thing when I read that paragraph; drama, confrontation, argument, back biting and name calling.

Just more of the same crap that is out there now.

Just learn the euphemisms. And the pattern, history, and motivation of these things. And what's read between the lines. Key word, and pivotal concept - euphemism. Of course, most participants won't realize this. They're being manipulated already...baited. The right lure for the right folks, to make a right dramatic show. Tis even easier to do with young folks, which is their target.

Euthanize?.......They'er gonna kill'em?.....OMG
That bad....Right?

I don't know. Put any buncha young people in the woods in "survival" mode with cameras on them and you will get drama.

It seems that they would get better ratings if they just asked for the young folks measurements, then they could really rev up the youthful audience when they took off their clothes. Sex has always and shall always sell on TV. Many years ago we called it T&A, but the current market is moving away from educational survival. How many folks want to see Les, Cody & Dave naked? (NONE) Now you toss in that 36-26-36 18-24 year old female, put her alongside a recruiting poster 18-24 year old male, take all thier clothes off and you got a hit show regardless if they survive or not. JMHO.

He is just soooooo predictable.

By the way, I want you all to know I'm 20 so I qualify...three times over. Heck, given my age and size I could be the whole show. Let me drag out that pic of me.

Yes he's predictable, but at least he has good taste.

When I was in High School, the Marine Recruiter would come out to talk to all the guys. A couple of times they sent this one Marine who was one of the hottest girls I have seen (at least at the time, I was 16 after all). She also drove a nice looking Corvette Stingray. I think their recruiting numbers spiked for those months.

You do know that you're going to have to pm him and splain the joke because it'll be totally lost in translation.

gcckoka.... to help you on Rick's joke, look at this, and take your word "abroad" and make it "a broad". http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=broad

madmax

It's a play on words, you have the interpretation right. A broad is a woman. Not really respectful.

You are correct. Just keep in mind that Slavic humor can be very different than American. Of course, British humor can also be very different than American. It is, what it is. When I lived in Poland, most of the jokes I just didn't get. And, if I got them, I didn't find them all that funny. That doesn't mean they weren't funny, just not to me.
