What are some good Novel/life accounts that go into detailed tactics + situation!?

Hey guys!

Im looking for some good books to read, or good real life accounts of survival situations!

Looking for a good story, novel.. adventure like.. that goes into detail about how they got through certain situations and what little tricks they used to survive.

Ive posted this same question on another forum and plan on compiling a nice list to share with all :)

My favorites are the Hatchet series by Gary Paulsen. They are a youth oriented series but also a good read for adults with much useful information on wilderness survival. It also presents a very realistic scenario which is easy to accept as valid.

My all time favorite is Last Of The Breed by Louis Lamour. It is focused on wilderness survival during the Cold War, but is a captivating read.

The Journals are a bit dated, and the phonic spelling will drive you nuts, but some of the excerpts are hilarious!

And the originals are a couple of thousands pages long,

The inventory lists are amazing. Several tons of supplies for a two year trek and only 200 pounds of food! Pretty much impossible to kill your food as you travel these days.

That said, I think, personally, speaking only for myself that "moccersins" is a way better spelling than "moccasins". especially if you pronounce it that way.

okay, so, My Side of the Mountain is kind of like Hatchet if you did it on purpose.

I also recommend Lost in the Barrens and Curse of the Viking Grave by Farley Mowat.

Uhhhh...not exactly an adventure narrative, but The Crusoe of Lonesome Lake by Leland Stowe
