Was thinking about nails and thought why not add a nailclipper to survival gear because if you have stuck in long-term survival having a pair would keep food from getting germs from under your nails and also would cut riskes of infection from picking at cuts and scrapes while patching them just a thought:D
I have the same pair that I put in my first pack almost 40 years ago. They've got countless uses, including splinter removal, wound debridement, and "fixing" broken toe or finger nails. There are several things you just can't do very well with a knife or a razor.

Good thinking. They're lightweight and have other uses too. Besides that, it's one more thing to make your survival situation even more comfortable so that you have less stressors.
I've always carried a pair. If you fly fish, you won't find anything better for snipping the ends of the mono after you tie your fly on.

They must be good for something, some kind of deadly weapon. The airlines thought so a few years ago.

Read a book by Bill Bryson called...well, crud the title escapes me. He and a fellow hike the Appalachian Trail, and nail clippers come up as a weapon. ;) He writes some funnies.
