At a recent outing there was a fella cooking eggs in the campfire. He poked a hole in the small end and set it upright up near the fire. Not sure how they turned out.I had to leave early. Any thoughts and advise on this method? seems like a simple way to cook a egg

So now you know what they are talking about when they ask the "who would you rather be stranded with, Ray or Bear?" question, which is as common in GB as the Bear or Less question is here.

I had always heard about taking a stick and scrambling the insides.....guess it isn't necessary...
Cool vid.....nice find., Kyrat.

I can't remember where i seen it done, but to cook eggs i cut a small length off of the side of a potato, hollow out some of the center, then pop the egg in. 10-15mins later in the embers and both the potato and the egg are cooked nicely. A great breakfast when mixed with strong tea and some fried up sausage. I've tried the make a hole and use a skewer idea and it did work, but i lost one as the shell cracked and it fell into the fire. Practice doing it at home if you can i found it a bit tricky to learn.

I cooked an egg on a stick once.

Come to think about it I have cooked a pig on a stick, a turkey on a stick, a deer on a stick, a goat on a stick, an elk hind quarter and one small emu.

Never cooked an egg on a stick!

Guess I better build a fire and start cracking.

Ray Mears is groovy and cool. The only expertise I have to judge him on is from living and working in a Samoan village. The video "Survival in Samoa" by Mears presents basic information that is accurate and without exaggeration:shifty:
