Monkey Fist Jig
Here is a bent bit of clothes hanger. Size it to the diameter of the core you are covering. This is for a marble. MUCH easier than tying around your fingers and less cord required (I have fat fingers). Tony

Wrap cord around jig (core is marble 5/8" diameter). Cord is 1/8" diameter. Your mileage might differ

Make a 90 degree turn and bring cord around marble and around first set of turns.

After completing this stage make 90 degree turn and bring cord Under the first set of turns and Over second set.

After completing tis stage slide completed Monkey Fist off jig to the right.

Gradually take out the slack by pulling one turn around the core at a time. When one set of turns is tightened go on to the next. Do Not try to take out all the slack in one go. It will take several turns of tightening to neatly tighten the knot.
