SxS Shotgun

Does anyone here own a Stoeger side by side 20 guage shotgun? I am in the market to buy a new Shotgun and would like some first hand info on this specific shotgun. Thank you in advance for your help.

I picked up a basic edition Stoeger Uplander a couple of years ago- with 26" barrels and double trigger. It has a very stiff action, and feels heavy after carrying it around chasing huns all day. Also, I have never been to accurate with it. My normal shotgun is a Benneli Super Black Eagle, and I am a pretty good wing shot with it. But the Uplander I just seem to miss more than I hit.
Overall, though I feel the Stoeger is a good edition to my collection. It is my only SxS, and I like keeping it by the back door as my quick go to gun. It was the right price for what it is. But, i wouldn't use it as my primary weapon.

Not getting it as a primary weapon. Just adding it to the collection. I'm concidering the youth model with the 22" barrels/choke tubes. The 870 is my goto shotgun. I rarely miss with it. I had the rifle barrel cut back to 18" and the leangth of pull shortened by a 1/2" so I could mount it quicker and without it catching on my coat. I just thought it would be cool to have a SxS. Thanx for the info.

Well I found one in a gunshop today. You are right Montana. It is very heavy and stiff. I think I will go for a single shot.

Remington in there SPARTAN division, Made a run of very High quality SXS 20 gage that were very cheap, I think I paid $219.00 for mine, It came with 5 screw in chokes, and a solid rib, two beads, sharp checkering. They were the prototype for a side by side rifle that got aborted.

klkak - Look into a lupara. Just google it. It can be made to conform to ATF rules and even the heavier SXS become quite a bit lighter.

As far as a side by side shotgun is concerned I like coachgun or howdah pistol types.

For the what it is worth, The Ithica model 37 and the Winchester model 12 ( and yes the 97' & 96' ) you can hold the trigger back and pump the action, and you do not have to let the trigger come forward. I have a sawed off Ithica M-37 I like to take for walks.

Speaking of walking ones firearm. I have a 3# 4oz. 12 gauge in 3 1/2" chamber, that I am not man enough to discharge with full 3 1/2" OOO Buck max dram charge. I did snooker a 220# man into discharging it and he walked rapidly backwards and near fell off the cabin deck.
