I just love the use of Ghania Aspera seeds (the little red ones) as decoration on the Xanthorea resin. I've ground these seeds up in the past to make 'cakes', but had never thought about using them for decoration on pieces. Awesome!!

Now there is a very interesting thread......Thanks for posting.
Could a list of what each object is be included......if known?

Hunter, you see how this stuff interests you because it is new to you, well I feel the same way about most of the stuff you guys do. Can we all just chill, and share info? I'm NOT having 'a sad day out bush' mate, far from it.

I thought I'd post this image here, because I find this P&G circa 1880's Tatanua mask a little amusing. I think this one is in a U.S collection (I may be wrong). I love the incorporation of the white mans clothes brush as part of the mask.

The first group were spectacular. I've always thought that fishing weirs were really under rated but I have never seen stone traps like those.

Those are some really incredible photos....the conical wicker things are fish traps? I'd love to know what the rest of the stuff is for.

This is another piece you may like. It's a bamboo club, tipped with rows of sharks teeth, tied on with cordage. Used as a weapon and also in cermonies.

our very own star, DEADLY.

if you do visit, do Circular Quay, The Rocks, The Botanic garden, then walk up to the Museum. There's also the Museum of Fine Art, at the back of the Gardens. (last time I went they had a bit of Aboriginal stuff on the bottom level).

All within walking distance.

It's probably just a cultural language thing, but Hunter63 asked you almost the exact same thing as tundrabadger - your response was a wee bit different though.

As I said - probably a cultural language thing - just want to make you aware.

No mind games being played. Early on you made the comment that went something like......If I'm being a wanker let me know......well, now you know.

@ Enigma - You came on here with a very negative attitude. I told you that early on. Your people skills are lacking. You have trouble relating without being condescending. I can live with that. However, you will NOT delete pictures and destroy the integrity of the threads. Once you post those picts they belong to the forum and you are not allowed to delete them. That will get you permanently banned and the pictures and/or posts will still be restored.

I don't see how your question set him off...maybe he was having a "sad day in the bush"...?

That was a quote from a different thread where he went off on some one that hadn't been on the forum for over a year......
Kinda like waiting for the bully to go it the house, then holler at them behind their back.

peezo jeets, I'm gone for awhile and missed the fireworks. Why is it that some of these newbies think they are the only ones that ever done anything? It's a big world out there.

It was a bit....sometimes in life you have a disagreement. The mature thing to do is move beyond it and be polite.

Lots of cool items.......don't think he made these posted this time but were a nice job.
I liked the weapon covered with shark teeth and the harpoon, at least that what I think they were.

tundrabadger

Weren't they from a museum or something?

I liked the shark teeth ones too...kind of reminded me of those wooden obsidian edged swords the aztecs used. Or I think it was the aztecs. But a similar idea anyhow, and very cool.

Very interesting information and photographs concerning Australian aboriginal culture, something I know little about. I am always amazed at the skill and knowledge shown by
so-called "primitive" cultures, cultures who thrived in their environments long before Westerners came. Thank you for posting. :clover:
