As of lately, every time I try to post pics I get a message saying that I've exceeded my quota. Anyone else have this issue?

Yes. I have to post them somewhere else then put the link in the URL place on the photo uploader and also have to uncheck that box that says "Retrieve remote file and reference locally".

I believe the limit is 100. After that you need to use one of the photo hosting sites.

I never knew that! I guess I'll have to set up an account and try again......

Photobucket is the easiest to use.

Photobucket is the easiest to use.

I'm searching for another option. I went from 87% full to way, way over 100% full and now they want a lot of money. This is the second time a change has been made by them that put a sour taste in my mouth. I had a pro, paid account - the last two changes more than doubled my annual fees. I understand the cost of doing business, but chasing away paying customers could also adversely affect business.

If all this is going on with photos, why does WSF have a limit on the photos you can upload directly from your PC?

Bandwidth and storage space cost money.

Okay, I can link to pictures which is progress. I am still unable to get the actual pictures themselves to show in the post. Any ideas?

Flickr doesn't like the [img] tag for some reason. I don't use it so I'm not familiar with it. I see there is a "safety" setting for the picture. I assume that is for private or public. Is that set to private?

Put that link in the box you get when you click on the little image icon which is above the text box you type in.

This is what I do:
On the page that link goes to, to the right of the picture, under the Share title, there are 4 boxes containing code. I always choose the bottom one that says IMG. Click that and it will turn yellow and say "copied". Then just paste that code in the reply box .

Nate - you have four options listed under the share links heading (to the right of the pic) on your photobucket page. If you left click on the bottom one (labeled IMG) it will copy that link. Then just paste it in the post that you want and voila! Pictures appear.

I believe the limit is 100. After that you need to use one of the photo hosting sites.

you see, you say that but it would appear the limit is now zero, since when I click the upload link (before I even get to select an image) it tells me my quota is exceeded by about the combined filesize of the few pictures I have left here after deleting most of them to make room.

Uh OH!!!!! The mods are going to get you!

It s actually against forum rules to delete posts and pictures because they destroy thread integrity. The mods will restore them and your pic count doesn't change. As mentioned earlier in the thread, you must use a photo sharing service.

Not even remotely worth my time or energy at this point.

Rick
04-02-2016, 07:47 AM
As long as a pic is not tied to a post you can delete it. Otherwise it does hose up the threads.

Canid - You have two albums with no photos. You might try deleting those and see if that frees up any space. On the surface, I don't see anything that would prevent you from uploading but I have no way of seeing what's linked in the tables. Perhaps there is something in those null albums that is actually serving as some kind of place holder.

canid
04-02-2016, 07:53 AM
I'll give that a try. One of them was the album I created when I tried to upload a photo.

edit: no, no dice. I've also been trying to recover my photobucket account for a while but I haven't managed that yet.

I managed to recover the photobucket account, finally, so that fixes that.
