Well it looks like I'm not going to be camping for some time. My new job in Detroit (literally, the center of downtown Detroit) starts in June and I have yet to find housing in the area. So my "free month" on May will be condo/apartment searching. Oh well. Hope to contribute my urban survival experiences in the upcoming months and contribute to the new turn this forum has taken

On top of condo/apartment searching, look into getting yourself a good bullet proof vest. ;)

My wife is from Detroit. When she starts talking about going home to visit I get cold chills and diaria.

I know the feeling! I left Detroit back in 69. I visited in 2002. Now I never have to go there again. We moved dad to Fla. Not much difference except more fools he has to deal with but no snow.

Get a good Snow Blower Now! Save you a ton of money buying it outside Mich, and you will need it.

Congratulations on your new job. You might try the H.R. department about lodgings, they may have a list.

By the way, there is always car camping and urban camping.
