I thought some of you might find this interesting. The white band with holes in the photos below is the ash layer that was laid down during the last eruption of Yellowstone. Lot's of ash!

Well, it certainly looks like Yellowstone made an ash out of itself!

Wow, the scale of things is truly hard to get you head around......Including the ash.
